Steven Zhang qualified as a Doctor of Chinese Medicine in China and has over 15 years experience at the famous Tianjin Teaching Hospital in China.
He has been a Doctor for 33 years, became a Consultant after 9 years and was one of the first Chinese Doctors to study the combined benefits of Chinese and Western medicine.
Steven has worked in private practice in the UK for over 17 years and recently opened a new Chinese Medical Clinic at Chesterfield in Derbyshire.
Steven treats a wide range of medical conditions using acupuncture, therapeutic massage (Tuina) and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
These techniques are used regularly in China to treat cardio-vascular, gastro-intestinal, genito-urinary, men’s, muscle or joint, respiratory and women’s problems.
Before any assessment you will be asked to complete a questionnaire detailing any illness of which you are aware, any prescribed medication taken and also details of any health professionals you have consulted and their diagnosis of your illness.
Your assessment will commence with discussion about the information you have provided and in most cases this will be followed by a physical examination. If you wish to bring a friend or relation with you for support they are welcome.
UK regulations now prevent practitioners making claims about the effectiveness of many alternative treatments, so after your assessment Steven will discuss his observations with you and will explain the treatment/s he would use to treat patients with your diagnosis in China. You will then be able to make an informed decision about commencing a course of treatment.
It is important to note that some Western practitioners may be sceptical about alternative medicine, whilst others welcome it as an effective addition, alternative or complement to Western style treatment.
